SB Overhead Door & Gate
Two La Grange brothers, one growing business, and a whole lot of 5-star reviews.
The newest Prime member of the La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce isn’t new to garage doors at all — just new to doing it on their own terms. SB Overhead Door & Gate is owned and operated by brothers Shayne and Christopher Scallan, both born and raised right here in La Grange. “SB” stands for Scallan Brothers, and the name on the truck is a promise: when it’s your family’s name on the business, you take pride in every job.
Shayne’s history with garage doors goes back further than most — he was working on them before he even had his driver’s license, with his old boss driving him out to job sites. That hands-on start turned into a career, and eventually into a shared vision with his brother Christopher: build a garage door and gate company around fast response, modern service, and being easy to find when people need them.

That philosophy shows up in the work. SB Overhead Door & Gate handles a mix of new installs, repairs, openers, and maintenance — roughly 70% garage doors and 30% automatic gates — serving La Grange, Columbus, Weimar, Schulenburg, Flatonia, Brenham, Bastrop, and the surrounding counties. The business is almost entirely residential today, with plans already in motion to expand into commercial work.

It’s still just the two brothers running the show — no crew, no subcontractors — which means Shayne or Christopher is personally on every job site, offering what they call fair pricing and an honest assessment of what a customer actually needs. It’s a simple approach, but it’s working: in the roughly year since they went into business together, SB Overhead Door & Gate has grown quickly and already holds more 5-star Google reviews than any other garage door company in the area.

Growth hasn’t come at the expense of community. The brothers sponsor local t-ball teams and recently donated a gift basket to the Tara Peach fundraiser — the kind of everyday involvement that’s second nature in a small town.
That same small-town instinct is what brought them to the Chamber. “It’s just what you do in a small town if you want to grow your business,” Christopher said. For SB Overhead Door & Gate, Chamber membership is about the connections — getting to know the other local businesses and families they’re now serving.
