La Grange Chamber of Commerce Delegation

Visits Texas State Capitol

A delegation from the La Grange Chamber of Commerce recently traveled to Austin, the capital of Texas, to advocate for the interests of local businesses and strengthen ties with state policymakers. The visit marked an important step in the Chamber’s ongoing efforts to represent the voices of La Grange’s business community at the state level.

The delegation included Jennifer Lane, Amanda Tohill, Caleb Parks, Gene Carson, Jack Thompson, John Daniel Tohill, and Mac Brooks — all active members of the Chamber and engaged leaders within the La Grange community. Their visit was aimed at discussing key legislative priorities impacting small businesses, infrastructure development, and economic growth in rural areas.

During their time in Austin, the group met with state legislators and staff to share insights from Fayette County and emphasize the importance of continued investment in regional development. The Chamber members also attended committee hearings and participated in networking sessions with other chambers from across the state.

“This trip was about making sure La Grange is part of the larger conversation,” said Amanda Tohill. “We want to ensure that rural communities like ours are not overlooked when policies are being shaped.”

The visit also provided a chance for the delegation to learn more about how state decisions directly affect local businesses and to build relationships with key figures in government.

The La Grange Chamber of Commerce plans to make this type of legislative outreach an annual event, recognizing the importance of direct advocacy and communication with policymakers.

By taking an active role in shaping the future of their region, these Chamber members are ensuring that the values and needs of La Grange are represented in Austin.
